List of Judgmental Statements with Examples

Building interesting human relationships is an art. You should know what to say and what not to say to people. Instead of being judgmental you focus yourself towards action or action plans. For example, instead of saying, "She loves me because she hugged and kissed me", ask her, "Do you love me", instead of saying, "He is stupid because he is just staring the paper, doing nothing", ask him, "Did you understand the problem, may I know how what approach you are going to take to solve this Math?"

Visual

• He is wearing a decent dress, so he knows how to behave well with others.
• She is a very happy lady because she always smiles.
• She doesn't like me because she never makes an eye contact with me.

Auditory

• He speaks very soft and kind, so he will never hurt anyones' feelings.
• He speaks kind words, so he will always listen and obey to what I say.
• She hates me because she used profane language.
• He shouts at me whenever I talk about moving to a different country, he doesn't like moving to another place.
• He always talks good about Mr.John because he like him everymuch.

Kinesthetic/Action

• He never kept his promise, so I won't trust him.
• Last time he lied to me, so I'm sure he is lying now too.
• He is running her and there around the office, so he is very busy.
• He hates me because whenever I try to talk to him he avoids me by giving excuses.
• He is stupid because when I gave him a Math, he was staring at the problem.
• He loves me because he helps me whenever I'm in trouble, he consoles me with kind words whenever I feel low, he supports me whenever I have arguments with others.
• She loves me because she hugged and kissed me.
• We are married so he will love me.
• We are in love so she will marry me.

How Quickly we make Judgments before knowing the Complete Story  

Opinion Words: Few examples of opinion words include, "You are lazy", "You are fit of nothing", "You are dumb", "You are stupid", "You have no sense", "You are insane". So, another word for judgemental is opinion. There are many other words for judgemental such beliefs, personal reasoning and so on.

Avoid Judgmental Statements and use Non-Judgemental Language:

1. persuade someone
2. empathize or sympathize with someone
3. build rapport
4. narrate stories or anecdotes
5. As a persuasive statement
6. When you're introducing yourself
7. As transition statements in speech
8. As presentation attention getter
9. While giving compliments
10. During assertive communication
11. When you like to say, "NO" politely
12. Delivering persuasive presentation
13. When you are giving feedback

Besides other common verbal communication barriers such as redundant words, generalized statements, mother tongue influence (MTI), negative words, and verbal fillers, making judgments is yet another common verbal communication barrier that hinders effective verbal communication.
